EDITOR-IN-CHIEF: JULIE GLASSER (Stanford BA, Comparative Literature with Honors and with Distinction, Stanford MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies) is from Scottsdale, Arizona. She will be in St. Petersburg, Russia next year on a Fulbright Scholarship to study women’s nongovernmental organizations. Julie plans to pursue her scholarly interest in Russia, women, and the law at Columbia Law School in autumn 2006. Please send comments to julieglasser@gmail.com.

 

MANAGING EDITOR: BEN PETERS (BYU BA, International Studies and Russian with Honors; Stanford MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies), originally hailing from Iowa City, Iowa, will enter a PhD program in Communications at Columbia University the fall of 2005, where he and his family will pursue interdisciplinary interests in intellectual history and new media across the former Soviet Union, the West, and maybe China. FINANCIAL MANAGER: JOE FAIRBANKS is originally from Norman, Oklahoma and is a Senior Honors undergraduate in International Relations with an emphasis in Russian studies and international security policy. He will be interning in the Republic of Georgia in Autumn 2005 for the
Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.

 

GENERAL SECTION EDITOR: SIMON SHUSTER is a senior majoring in Philosophy and German Studies. His honors thesis focused on Russian folk art, its influence on the avant-garde, and the crisis it faces in the new capitalist Russia. In the fall, Simon is off to Germany on a yearlong Fulbright Scholarship, and after that he hopes to delay commitments for as long as possible with the help of education grants, writing and freelance journalism.

 

HUMANITIES SECTION EDITOR: MATT CUSICK is a junior history major from New Castle, Pennsylvania. He has spent the last 10 months in Germany completing an internship at the Freie Universitaet and conducting Honors Thesis research. Matt enjoys sports, travel, B–action movies, and longs for California weather. mcusick@stanford.edu.

 

SOCIAL SCIENCES SECTION EDITOR: MARK HACKARD holds a BA in Russian from Georgetown University and an MA in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at Stanford. Mark’s primary interests are in Russian security services and the development of organized crime in the region. He plans to work in DC next year.

 

LAYOUT/WEB EDITOR: ILYA FINKELSTEIN, hailing from Odessa, Ukraine, holds a BS in Chemistry from UC Berkeley and is currently a PhD candidate in Physical Chemistry at Stanford. Ilya plans to pursue an academic career in biophysical sciences and to continue to practice his Russian with those he loves. somoney@stanford.edu
